Being a caregiver isn’t easy—but you don’t have to do it alone. Join our virtual support groups this summer to connect, share, and recharge with others who truly understand. ALL caregivers are welcome. Come as you are and take a moment for YOU. In addition to their general caregiver group, TN Caregiver Coalition offers a Caring In Color: Support Group for Black Caregivers. We recommend visiting their website for dates, times, and registering for their VIRTUAL monthly meetings: https://tncaregiver.org/events/
Starting June 4, 2025, and running through until the first week of July, this unique group is designed to provide a safe, affirming, and empowering space for LGBTQIA+ adults in Memphis. It directly addresses the unique challenges faced by the community, offering a path for self-discovery, identity exploration, and processing experiences of discrimination and stigma through creative expression.
The group is expertly facilitated by Dr. Katherine Brown, LPC-MHSP, EdD, Forward Counseling, who brings extensive experience in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and transition issues. Katherine's approach integrates modalities like narrative therapy and somatic techniques, emphasizing the transformative power of art. She believes "the act of creating art engages clients more comprehensively than standard talk therapy," providing a vital outlet for emotions and fostering a sense of agency. Participants consistently find the group atmosphere playful, humorous, and a truly safe space for deep emotional expression.
