Peer Support and Peer Mentoring
Peer Support and Peer Mentoring
Peer Support and Peer Mentoring encourages people with disabilities to become more independent and active in the community through the use of one-on-one peer support.
Peer support may need to be age specific or it can be a combination of age and disability support that an individual needs. People with disabilities who have first-hand experience may be the best resource to help individuals overcome barriers.

The Grey Panthers, sponsored by DCM, are a peer-to-peer support group for seniors. It is our mission to support and share information to improve the quality of life for seniors, 55 years and older. For more information about our group, call us at 901-726-6404.

Our Peer Outreach Program, P.O.P., will assist people with disabilities to reach their goals through one-on-one peer mentoring relationships. Peer support can promote independence, build lifelong advocacy skills, and develop future leaders in our community. Every last Friday of the month, our office hosts game night! Our peer support group (Peer Outreach Program - P.O.P.) usually plays uno, cards, spades, dominoes, checkers, and more! Our games and cards are accessible to blind and low-vision players. Attendance and any snacks provided are FREE.

Fitness Group
Fitness Group
Every second and third Tuesday of the month, we host a fitness group! Our group is a collaboration between three organizations: The Memphis Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind, Tristate Adaptive Sports Association, and Disability Connection Midsouth. Currently, our group has been practicing their line dancing! Attendance is FREE.
This group is an opportunity for those looking to stay active and be among a friendly group of people with disabilities. We are always open to new members.
